Project Townhouse
Complete refurbishment of a townhouse in Selva, Mallorca
The project has started in 2019, after our client has purchased the house. It has a historic ground floor, and elements like an extra bedroom and a top floor from the 1970's. The house was very uncomfortable to use in its original state: the kitchen was hidden on the ground floor, while the top floor with breathtaking views of the island was left unused.
We have decided to create a completely new concept, based on the lifestyle of our clients. First, we created an office / studio space on the ground floor, turning the large living room area into a space meant for work. Even the small indoor patio has gained importance in the form of a small Mediterranean garden.
The first floor is meant for resting: the master bedroom with a spacious en-suite bathroom is directly connected to the walk in wardrobe. There is a guest bedroom with a private bathroom. We have created a library / art space, that has amazing natural light thanks to a skylight.
The upper floor is home to the kitchen, and a living room area, that opens up to the large terrace filled with Mediterranean plants and a chill out area.
As the base colours of the house are earth tones and wood, we have decided to add a colourful decoration to some of the spaces. The house has several vintage furniture pieces and vintage rugs from Morocco. Our goal was to keep the Mediterranean simplicity at architectural level, but make it cosy and liveable with warm furniture pieces and decoration.
